Dr. Zapf treats a lot of men and women from the Fairfax community that are harmed while working. According to the National Safety Council, the most frequent type of work injury is musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs), which involves injuries to the muscles, nerves, tendons, ligaments and joints. MSDs account for more than one third of all workplace accidents.
The most usual type of MSD is a strain, which is trauma to a muscle or tendon. Strains can be caused by lifting, pushing or pulling too much weight, or by repetitive movements. Other common MSDs involve carpal tunnel syndrome, tendinitis and back issues.
These injuries can be avoided by using proper lifting techniques, taking many breaks and using ergonomic tools. Employers can also help avoid injuries by providing their employees educational sources on preventing them.
Back problems and injuries are a common problem that Dr. Zapf sees in our #Ciyt# office and we also work with patients who have shoulder or neck pain.
If you have sustained a work injury or accident and live in the Fairfax community, give Dr. Zapf a call and schedule an appointment today. We will work with you to create a treatment plan that will help you heal and do our best to get you back on the job as quick as we can!
